Herbs are medicinal plants which have no persistent woody parts. They are believed to have excellent medicinal powers aside from its cuisine use as a food flavoring.
When most people think of these plants, what comes to mind is usually basic information that is not particularly interesting or beneficial. However, there is a lot more to them than just the basics.

They are used to treat misaligned joints, improve health and cure diseases. They can even eradicate viruses, which they are referred to as antiviral. They can be grown in your backyard and can be purchased in grocery stores or health stores. People even grow them in their kitchen windows.
They are natural remedies and can be used daily along with a well balanced diet. You can substitute salt by using thyme and marjoram. Pepper can be substituted with summer savory or basil. Try mixing different kinds in recipes and they will change the flavor and make the taste more desirable. They can even help persons to quit cigarette smoking. All these natural approaches show the versatility of these healing plants.
When they are used in your daily diet they can treat minor aches and pains. This is a cheaper way to keep your body healthy and strong.
Those on the culinary side can be used to strengthen the immune system and help prevent cancer. Some of them used are garlic, cumin, and green tea, along with much exercise are necessary to maintain strong immune system, to fight viruses and other ailments.
Some of these plants are even used as natural insect repellent and unlike other repellent, the odor is pleasant.
There are medicinal plants to rid the body of drugs and aid in withdrawal addiction. These are alfalfa, sarsaparilla root, burdock root, cayenne pepper, chamomile, and licorice root. Also drink a glass of garlic water daily. This can be made by soaking crushed garlic in water for
several days or boil garlic and when cool place in refrigerator.
There are many medicinal plants that can help to fight a cold or respiratory problems. Elderberry is a one that stops a cold and prevents it from getting worse. It is good to be taken at the first signs of a cold. Garlic is also good for the respiratory system. In addition, lemon balm has been known to relieve fever, a cold or the flu.
The fresh leaves or powder of ginger can be used to treat common colds and also used as a bowel cleansing system, as it supports the stomach, spleen and intestines. Hot ginger tea when taken will create sweat which will expel the virus from the body. Hyssop is another one that is used for colds because it will loosen the mucus.
Peppermint is another good one used to treat colds and fever. Along with treating the common cold, it is good for relieving upset stomach and alleviating pain.
Yarrow is the best option for the treatment of fever that comes along with the common cold. Yarrow is best when mixed with elderberry or mint.
When using them, much care must be taken. You have to take the right amount for them to work properly and overuse can cause side effects. The use of medicinal plants are safer to use than the use of drugs, they can be very strong and if not used properly could cause fatal injuries and perhaps death.
Read and find all the information that you need. Read labels and be sure to read all the warnings because not everybody can use plants for healing and health benefits.
If you are over 65 and want to begin taking herbal remedies, make sure to begin slowly. A person's system is weakened with age so by taking herbal remedies it can cause a reaction.
