Shepherds purse or shepherd's purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris) medicinal herb is a plant that is native to Europe and it is of the Brassicaceae family. It can be found growing all over the United States of America and other parts of the world and it is also an annual herb.  It is known as a common wayside weed and therefore its value is underestimated.  The herbal benefits are yet to be greatly explored.

The medicinal properties are astringent, detergent, vulnerary as well as diuretic and the entire plant may be used for its health benefits.

One of shepherd's purse health benefits is the ability to stop any kind of bleeding, both internal and external bleeding.   It is the herb for bleeding.  It is excellent to treat hemorrhage after child's birth as well as all other internal hemorrhages.  I cannot get over the fact that it is truly a wonder healing herb for bleeding.
