Adaptogens

Anthelmintics

Anthelmintic herbs, also called vermifuge are responsible to eliminate worms that have infested the intestines. These herbs are elecampane, areca nuts, pumpkin seed, pomegranate root, Uva ursi, balomy leaves, senna, male fern, horseradish, wormwood leaves and wild violet.

Antibilious

Antibilious herbs aid in fighting bilious conditions. Biliousness comprises of abdominal discomforts, nausea, constipation, headaches as well as gas. All these are a result of too much bile secretion. These herbs are wormwood, dandelion, barberry, goldenseal, wild yam as well as fringe-tree.

Antyhologistics

Antyhologistic herbs are used in combating inflammatory diseases. These herbs are blue cohosh, arnica, lobelia, cayenne, hops, wormwood, chaparral, burdock, slippery elm, garlic. However, do not use them if tissues are damaged.

Aphrodisiacs

Aphrodisiacs are herbs that increase sexual desires, drives and feelings and should be administered on a timely basis. These herbs are kola nut, ram goat dash along (damiana), ginger root, dong quai, cardamom, anise seed, fo-ti, kola nut (bissy), asparagus, ashwagandha root, muira puama and saw palmetto.

Aromatics

Aromatic herbs are just as the name suggests. They are herbs with much fragrance, pleasant odor and they also possess a very strong taste. These herbs are lavender, celery, angelica, cloves, chamomile, ginger, valerian, fennel, cinnamon, allspice, peppermint, spearmint, oregano, rosemary, patchouli, parsley, thyme as well as sage.

Astringents

These herbs are used to tighten internal as well as external skin, blood vessels and other tissues. This action can also be referred to as a contraction which will result in the retaining of mucus, blood, nutrients and heat in the body. They are also responsible to tone up the muscles and allow the muscles to become firm. They can be used in douches, baths, mouthwashes, gargles, drinks as well as skin lotions.
