This article on "Researchers validate herbal treatment for menstrual abnormality, infertility" which was published by the Nigerian Tribune on September 26, 2013, really caught my attention. It is all about using medicinal herbs as treatment for infertility and menstrual irregularities.


It featured herbs such as Bambusa vulgaris which is known as bamboo, Momordica charantia, which is known African cucumber, bitter melon or balsam pear (I know it as cerasee). It also featured Rauwolfia vomitoria which is also a medicinal herb that has been utilized for many years in folklore medicine in Nigeria for treating hypertension and other ailments. Also included is Ficus sur which is known as fig tree.

There are various reasons for infertility and abnormal menses and women are seeking all kinds of remedy to correct such a problem. Maybe reading this article can bring some hope to someone.
