Horny goat weed (Epimedium grandiflorum) medicinal herb is native to China as well as Korea. The common names are Yin Yang Huo, Barrenwort, Inyokaku, Rowdy lamb herb, Bishop's hat, Fairy wings, Randy beef grass, Epimedium acuminatum, Epimedium grandiflorum, Japanese Epimedium, Goat wort, Long spur epimedium as well as Xian ling pi.

According to ancient Chinese folk lore, it inherited its name from a goat herdsman. The herdsman saw one of his goats going on a horny frenzy after eating epimedium.
