Many people are of the belief that herbs are very safe. While it is so with many medicinal herbs, there are some herbs that you have to use with much caution. They can be very dangerous to your health.
The following list of herbs is deemed dangerous and should be used with great care. Borage:
This herb can be harmful if taken in very large doses and so may cause cancer and also liver damage.Chaparral:
This herb may cause some type of illness and it is also banned in the United States of America.Coltsfoot:
This herb may cause cancer.Comfrey:
If overuse, it may cause liver damage as well as cancer. However, it is very safe to use externally.Foxglove:
This is a very powerful herb that can damage heart.Pennyroyal Essential Oil:
If taken in large doses, this pennyroyal oil may cause agitation and disturbance in the body and may not be suitable to be used by pregnant ladies.Poison Hemlock:
This herb is not recommended for internal use and excessive use can cause paralysis as well as death.Pokeweed:
This herb may cause convulsions and respiratory paralysis.The following is a list of herbs that are considered dangerous as well, but they are not as potentially dangerous as the above list.Aloe Vera:
The juice can be a very potent laxative, so great care must be exercised when using it.Ephedra:
This herb should not be utilized by persons suffering with heart ailments, diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure) and thyroid diseases.Juniper:
Persons who are suffering with kidney diseases should not use this herb. Also, pregnant women should not use it.Licorice:
An overuse of licorice may cause high blood pressure and fluid retention.Yohimbe:
This will bring on side effects which include nausea, hypertension (high blood pressure), vomiting, insomnia, heart palpitations and tremors.
