For the first time in Jamaica, there was the launching of a medical ganja company in Kingston which is called Medicanja. This launching took place on December 3, 2013. According to a television poll done by Television Jamaica, eighty-seven percent of Jamaicans agreed with this excellent move.


This was possible through the determined effort of Professor Henry Lowe who reminded everyone that this move does not involve the habit of smoking ganja. It will be done primarily for medicinal purposes.

Ganja is also referred to as marijuana, herb and hemp. Medicanja aim is to take advantage of the current multi-billion dollar industry's commercialization.

The medical ganja company will do research as well as product development utilizing the medicinal compounds referred to as the CBDs (the non-psychoactive compounds found in ganja.)
