Yucca medicinal herb is a perennial indoor house plant and it is also a flowering plant putting out some lovely white flowers, although it may vary in colour to even shades of green. Many species of this plant bear edible fruits, seeds, flowers as well as flowering stems. Some of the roots are also edible because various species of this plant were used as food by native Americans and early California settlers.

It contains levels of soapy compounds known as saponins which are also edible and can actually lower high cholesterol levels.   Due to the levels of soapy compounds, the root may be pounded for the collection of soap.
